A witness said the blast occurred when a truck began discharging cooking gas

A huge explosion on Thursday at a butane gas depot in south-eastern Nigeria left "tens" of people dead, Nigeria's president says.
The fire raged for more than five hours before being extinguished.
Witnesses said the bodies of workers and customers at the depot in Nnewi in Anambra State had been burned beyond recognition.

The NHS choir has defeated Justin Bieber to secure the UK’s official Christmas No 1.
Following a week-long head-to-head, the Lewisham and Greenwich NHS choir’s charity single, A Bridge Over You, finished the chart race with nearly 31,000 sales ahead of the multimillion selling popstar.
The choir, which shifted more than 127,000 singles compared with Bieber’s 97,000, received a late boost after Bieber urged his own fans to support the cause.

The queen will note there have been "moments of darkness" in the last year, which has been marked by extremist attacks and a migrant crisis that has overwhelmed Europe, but cites the Bible as offering solace.

Boy Has Testicular Tissue Frozen To Allow Him To Have Children After Chemotherapy

A 9-year-old from Cornwall who is undergoing treatment for a brain tumour which is likely to render him infertile will have frozen cells re-implanted when he is older. This is the first time such operation will be performed in UK.



Nathan Crawford was diagnosed with a kind of brain tumour called a glioma, after after experiencing headaches and blurred vision in January. The tumour could not be removed through surgery as the risk of brain damage was too high.
